Newly elected Member of Parliament from Bhopal, Pragya
Thakur
has been asked by her party to take active part in the
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and refrain from making controversial
statements.

This comes after Pragya Thakur was recently seen in a video saying that she
has not been elected MP to clean drains and toilets. She said,” “We haven’t
been elected to clean your drains, ok? We haven’t been elected to clean your
toilets, please understand. The work for which I have been elected, I will do
honestly, I have said that before and I will say it again.”

As per reports, BJP has asked Thakur to take part in a cleanliness drive by
sweeping and to show her support to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan which is a pet
project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Party working president JP Nadda has reportedly told Thakur
not to make any controversial statements and also ordered her to comply with
the ideologies and campaigns of the party.

The video of Pragya Thakur had received a lot of criticism from the public.
While some people had considered her comments as cast based, others took it
as an insult to the Swachh Bharat Mission that was launched by PM Modi in
2014.

Pragya Thakur often gets embroiled in controversies through her statements.
During the Lok Sabha elections she had called Mahatma
Gandhi’s
assassin Nathuram Godse a patriot.

“Nathuram Godse was a deshbhakt, is a deshbhakt and will remain a
deshbhakt. People calling him a terrorist should instead look within, such
people will be given a befitting reply in these elections,” she said.

Responding to her statement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi
had said, “I will never be able to forgive Pragya Thakur for insulting
Mahatma Gandhi.”
