The Supreme Court of India has ordered that all the cases
pertaining to the Unnao rape case be transferred to
Delhi from Uttar Pradesh.
The court has also ordered the CBI- Central Bureau of
Investigation to complete the investigation of the accident case
involving the Unnao rape survivor within seven days.
The court has also asked CBI officers and Solicitor General to be present
during the next hearing of the matter.
The court took up the matter after the rape survivor met with an accident
just fifteen days after she had written a letter to the Supreme Court saying
that her life was in danger.
In her letter the teenaged rape survivor had stated that people associated
with the rape accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar were
threatening her and her family. The car she was travelling in was hit by a
truck on 28 July. Two female relatives of the girl died in the accident while
she and her lawyer were gravely injured.
The latest updates claim that condition of the Unnao-rape survivor and her
lawyer is now stable.
Meanwhile BJP has expelled MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, after growing pressure
and criticism from all corners. He has been jailed but will continue to be an
MLA until he is proven guilty in the court.
CBI has filed murder and conspiracy charges against Sengar and about 30 of
his men recently and investigation is in progress.
Social media users have welcomed the intervention by Supreme Court of India
in the case.
