Indian cricket team is all set to travel to the
Caribbean for the Windies tour that starts
from 3 August and will remain there till first week of September. The
upcoming series leaves very little time for the players to rest who have
recently returned from England after elimination in ICC World Cup
2019.
While in West Indies, team India will initially play three
ODI- One Day Internationals and three T20 international matches and then a
two-match Test series.

The squad from India is yet to be decided although it is expected that most
of the senior players will go on the tour. However, there are speculation
that after India’s loss in the world cup, some new players may also get the
chance to show their talent. Virat Kohli is expected to be a
part of the squad for the entire tour.

Here is the schedule of the tour:

1st T20I – 3 August

2nd T20I – 4 August

3rd T20I – 6 August

1st ODI – 8 August

2nd ODI – 11 August

3rd ODI – 14 August

1st Test – 22 August – 26 August

2nd Test – 30 August – 3 September

Reports claim that the team will soon get a new head coach and unlike the
last time, Virat Kohli will have no say in the selection for this post. The
coach will be selected by a three-member steering committee headed by former
cricketer Kapil Dev.

India’s current head coach Ravi Shastri’s term has ended
and he has been given an extension till the Windies tour is over.

Social media users have speculating about the upcoming tour.

Chaitanya Prasad tweeted,” The proposed #Teamindia
#MeninBlue tour to Windies should be a platform to build the PlanB, bench
strength should be looked into. Regulars may be avoided. Young blood must be
inducted. Slots should be reviewed. Avoid taking first class passengers for
redemption. Avoid favourites.”

“So… VIRAT KOHLI will play whole Windies tour and will also captain
India!! Now… Where are those haters?? ,” tweeted
