The Jammu and Kashmir government has issued an advisory for Amarnath
Yatra
pilgrims and tourists, asking them to leave the state
immediately. The government order cites security concerns as the reason.

J&K Police and the Indian Army held a
joint press conference yesterday and shared information about prospective
terrorist action in the valley. The Indian army has confirmed that there are
reports of attack on the Amarnath Yatra by terrorists who are supported by
Pakistan Army.

This is the first time for such security advisory to be issued for Jammu and
Kashmir region.

The notice says, “Keeping in view the latest intelligence inputs of terror
threats, with specific targeting of the Amarnath Yatra, and given the
prevailing security situation in the Kashmir Valley, in the interest of
safety and security of the tourists and Amarnath Yatris, it is advised that
they may curtail their stay in the valley immediately and take necessary
measures to return as soon as possible.”

The former Chief Minister of the state, Mehbooba Mufti
tweeted, “Complete chaos on the streets of Srinagar. People rushing to
ATMs, petrol pumps & stocking up on essential supplies. Is GOI only
concerned about the safety of yatris while Kashmiris have been left to their
own devices?”

As per reports, the army has recovered a landmine with
Pakistan ordnance factory markings and an M-24 American sniper
rifle
with a telescope along the Amarnath Yatra route.

Centre government has already sent over 25,000 more troops
to Kashmir, while 10,000 central troops were deployed in the state a few days
ago.

Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also took to twitter and
wrote, “Friends staying in hotels in Gulmarg are being forced to leave.
State road transport Corpn buses are being deployed to bus people out from
Pahalgam & Gulmarg. If there is a threat to the yatra why is Gulmarg
being emptied?”
