This year, Kerala floods took at least 90 lives and left many
people across North Kerala homeless. But like last year, people from across
the state came together to join hands and re-build Kerala. Amongst them,
Noushad, a cloth vendor from Kochi, is winning hearts on
social media. Noushad, who works as a street vendor at the famous Broadway
area of Kochi, comes from an economically backward family. He contributed
more than ten sacks of clothes for flood victims. All these clothes were kept
aside by him to be sold for Eid festival, and this was the only stock that he
had for sale. But when volunteers approached him for help, Noushad did not
have to think twice before giving them off. In one of the videos, Noushad can
be seen smiling and conveying an inspirational message.

When we leave this world, we are not going to carry anything. My biggest
profit would be helping people who are in need. Tomorrow is Eid
celebrations, and this is my way of celebrating it-Noushad

Many videos of Noushad are now doing the rounds on social media. In one of
them, Noushad can be seen carrying loads of clothes on his head to trucks
with relief materials.

Noushad, who is in his early forties, hails from Mattancherry in Kochi. His
inspiring story got at least ten thousand likes and thousands of shares on
social media platforms. Reportedly, South Indian superstars like
Mammootty and Jayasurya rang up Noushad to
wish him the best for his kind gesture. State ministers including KK
Shailaja
and G Sudhakaran shared his story on their
Facebook pages.

Inspiring people like Noushad shows that humanity is still alive on Earth.

“Naushad, a small textile shop owner in Kochi gave almost his entire stock
kept for sale to #KeralaFloodRelief2019 as donation. He says it is his way of
celebrating Eid-al-Adha! What a human being!! Naushad ikka, there’s enough
hope in your eyes to light up Kerala!!”, tweeted Anupama
Mohan.

“Doesn’t feel right to end the day without remembering Noushad, an ordinary
garment seller from Kerala who donated all his Eid stock to the flood relief
camps. Thankyou for restoring my faith in the state, in humanity during such
dark times. May your tribe increase and prosper”, tweeted Adila
Matra.
