Monsoons have hit Kerala in full strength as most of the northern parts of
the state received heavy rainfall since last week. The Indian
Meteorological Department (IMD)
has issued a red alert in six
districts as the south west monsoon is gaining strength. Kozhikode,
Kannur, Malappuram and Wayanad
has been issued a red alert whereas
orange and yellow alerts have been issued in some other parts of the state.
Idukki, where Mullaperiyar dam is situated,
was issued a red alert on Sunday along with Kasargode. Other
districts like Thrissur and Ernakulam
received heavy rainfall as well. Four people have already lost
their lives in various rain related accidents across the state.

Last year during August, Kerala was hit by the worst floods of the century.
Many people lost their lives and lakhs of people became homeless. With
