According to Indian intelligence reports and satellite imagery of the Line of
Control, Pakistan has moved terrorists to the border near India. They had
been moved out ahead of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran
Khan
’s visit to Washington last week and have been brought them
back after his return.

Speaking to reporters, officials said, “For several days, we got reports
saying there are no terrorists waiting to infiltrate into India. This was
surprising because in the period between May and October such infiltration
bids are made”.

Khan met United States President Donald Trump last week on
22 July. He was accompanied by Pakistan’s army chief, General Qamar
Bajwa
and that country’s spy agency chief Faiz
Hameed
.

Fresh reports now indicate that 200 to 250 terrorists are back at the border
and are waiting to enter India. There was firing in the Valley’s Gurez
sector on Tuesday which was an infiltration attempt. An army officer later
confirmed. “We could see two bodies (of terrorists) lying there. The border
has become active again and we are expecting more ceasefire violations”.

Heavy artillery fire exchange between India and Pakistan rose this week as
well in the Tangdhar and Keran sectors. In another incident an Indian soldier
was killed.

At a press conference in Srinagar, Chinar Corps Commander, Lt Gen KJS
Sandhu
said Pakistan was continuing with its infiltration bids and
was trying to “disrupt peace in the Valley.” There was a spike in
ceasefire violations after the Balakot air strike at a Jaish-e-Mohammed
facility in February, soon after the attack in Pulwama, in which a vehicle
laden with explosives rammed into a CRPF convoy, killing 40 troopers.

The tension is back says India as Pakistan had a good trip in Washington.
“The assessment in Pakistan is that they had a good trip to Washington and
are happy with Trump’s offer to mediate on Kashmir,” said an Indian
official, off the record.
