Former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly says he is
surprised that Shubman Gill and Ajinkya
Rahane
have been kept out of the upcoming three-match one day
international (ODI) series against the West Indies.

Sourav took to Twitter and questioned the selection committee about why only
a few players are playing all formats of the game.

Time has come for Indian selectors to pick same players in all formats of
the game for rhythm and confidence.. too few are playing in all formats
..great teams had consistent players ..it’s not about making all happy but
picking the best for the country and be consistent. – Sourav
Ganguly, Former India cricket captain

He added, tThere are many in the squad who can play all formats ..surprised
not to see shubman gill ..Rahane in the one day squad.”

The squads for India’s upcoming full series against the West Indies were
announced on Sunday. Shubman’s omission is surprising as he scored 218 runs
in the recently concluded series between India A and West Indies A.

Virat Kohli will lead the team in all formats of the series
starting on 3 August. Rishabh Pant is the wicket-keeper
after MS Dhoni made himself unavailable for the tour.

Dhoni’s request to train for two months with the Territorial
Army
battalion of the parachute regiment has been approved by the
Army Chief, General Bipin Rawat. Dhoni holds the rank of
Honorary Lt. Colonel in the Territorial Army. A part of his training will
take place in the Kashmir Valley. It has also been clarified that the army
will not allow Dhoni to play an active part in any operation.
