The Supreme Court of India is all set to take up the letter sent by Unnao
rape case survivor. India’s top court will look into the letter that was
sent to Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi almost fifteen
days before the accident that happened on Sunday. Reportedly, the survivor
mentions in the letter that her life is in danger. It marks more relevance
now after the car in which she was travelling was rammed by a truck with no
number plate. The rape accused BJP leader Kuleep Singh
Sengar
has already been jailed and the case is being investigated by
the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

#SupremeCourt agrees to examine #Unnao rape case on Thursday. CJI asks
Secretary General to explain why a letter sent by the victim, apprehending
threat, and received on July 17 was not put up for
consideration-Ashish Tripathi, Journalist.

On 12 July, Gogoi had asked for a report on the letter. The survivor, who is
a teenager had requested for protection from the accused and his associates
who constantly harassed her and the family. The case will now be urgently
taken up under the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences
(POCSO).
Gogoi came to know about the letter that was sent to him
only after reading news reports about it.

“Justice: lost in translation. “The CJI has asked the Secretary General to
go through the letter written in Hindi for preparing a note of it for his
perusal,” an official of the Supreme Court said”, tweeted journalist
Shivam Vij.

On Sunday, the survivor, her lawyer and two relatives were travelling in a
car to which the truck rammed in killing both her relatives. The survivor and
lawyer are in serious condition at the hospital.
