India defeated West Indies by 6 wickets
yesterday and clean swept the three-match series 2-0.

The win became India’s ninth straight One-Day International series victory
against West Indies. West Indies batted first after winning the toss and made
240 runs in 35 overs due to rains, the target was revised using DLS scoring
method to 255 runs.

Captain Virat Kohli scored his 43rd One-day International
hundred and has become the first batsman to score 20,000 international runs
in a 10 year period. He has also equaled Sachin Tendulkar’s
record of most number of centuries against a single rival team in ODI
cricket.

Kohli hit 114 from 99 balls and was able to set a new record but was hit on
his right thumb during the match.

There were speculations that he may have injured his thumb but he clarified
and said after the match, “Luckily, it’s not broken. When I got hit I thought
it was worse than what it turned out to be. But it’s not broken so I should
be good for the first Test.”

Kohli has now smashed 68 international hundreds. Shreyas
Iyer
also helped the team by scoring 65 runs off 41 balls.

Veteran West Indies batsman Chris Gayle made 72 runs off 41
balls. Some reports claimed that Gayle was considering retirement however,
the player later posted a video dismissing the rumors and said, “I didn’t
announce anything…any retirement.”

The two-match Test series between the two teams will start on 22
August.
