July 23, 2019

The political crisis in Karnataka is still not over and now the trust vote
proceedings have a new deadline. Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar has
announced that the trust vote should be completed by 6 pm today.

The assembly was kept going by the speaker till midnight yesterday and had to
be adjourned twice due to loud slogan chanting.

However the trust vote did not go through and speaker KR Ramesh Kumar
adjourned the assembly till 10 am today. He said “I do not want this 11 pm
thing again. Everyone has health conditions.”

The trust vote will decide the future of the Congress-Janata Dal
Secular
coalition in Karnataka.

The coalition earlier had 118 members and then 15 legislators resigned, their
resignation is yet to be accepted by the speaker. If the MLAs are allowed to
leave the alliance the government will be left with less legislators and lose
the majority in the 224-member assembly.

State BJP chief BS Yeddyurappa is confident that the
alliance will fall and had earlier said, “The leaders Siddaramaiah and
Kumaraswamy had said that the voting will happen today. I am here till even
12 am. We will listen to everyone. We expect the vote at the end of it.”
